About

S. Chris Shirley

I write contemporary fiction about ambition, secrecy, and the limits of control. My work blends high-stakes environments with deeply personal stories, always grounded in reality.

Before turning to fiction full-time, I spent a decade leading executive communications for Fortune 500 companies, working directly with five CEOs. That experience gave me an inside view of power structures—and the stories organizations tell themselves and the ones they hide.

My debut novel, Playing by the Book, is a coming-of-age story about identity, love, and self-discovery. It was the first LGBTQ coming-out novel to win a National IPPY Medal in the religious fiction category. I was represented by the late George Nicholson of Sterling Lord Literistic.

My latest project, Bloody Hell, is an upmarket corporate thriller that explores the limits of power, secrecy, and love inside the ruthless world of global pharmaceuticals.

I’m a former President of the Board for Lambda Literary, a graduate of Columbia Business School, and I studied filmmaking at New York University.
