Bloody Hell Meme Campaign
No, it’s not a graphic novel. Just aggressively visual prose.
To pave the way for the characters of Bloody Hell to reach the printed page, I created a satirical meme campaign to introduce the novel’s tone and themes. Each of the three series in the campaign centers on a major character from the novel:
Skyler Longview, a charming but ruthless CEO
Tonya Powell, a perfectionist general counsel with a chip on her shoulder
President Kwesi Asante, a tyrant in a tailored suit
Each series uses humor to explore Bloody Hell’s core themes, offering a different lens on power, control, and dysfunction.
The tone of Bloody Hell is dark and irreverent, but I’m no corporate cynic. I spent a decade in Executive Communications and worked closely with five extraordinary CEOs whose intelligence, integrity, and focus taught me a great deal.
But once you get more than two people in a room, dysfunction tends to follow, and that’s what I mined for Bloody Hell and this campaign.
Series
-
Skyler Longview’s C-Suite Power Plays
Skyler built his empire on charm, discipline, and a talent for spinning every crisis into a win. But leadership isn’t always pretty—and beneath the bespoke suits and media flashbulbs is a man convinced that control is the ultimate currency. This meme series captures Skyler in his natural habitat—commanding attention, shaping reality, and quietly unraveling behind the scenes.
-
Tonya Powell’s Managerial Insights
As General Counsel of Blackwell Pharmaceuticals, Tonya Powell has mastered the art of perfectionism under pressure. She’s brilliant, exacting, and just empathetic enough to make you question whether the problem is you. (It’s not.) This meme series explores the quiet tyranny of high-functioning management—the 2 a.m. emails, the performance masks, the burnout rebranded as “excellence.” For Tonya, control isn’t power. It’s protection.
-
President Kwesi Asante’s Rules for Ruling
President Kwesi Asante has ruled the nation of Zavari for over two decades with an iron will, a tailored suit, and a flair for spectacle. Equal parts statesman and showman, he knows that true power isn’t taken—it’s performed. This meme series draws from his authoritarian playbook, offering leadership “tips” steeped in control, fear, and the art of narrative manipulation. In the world of Bloody Hell, tyranny doesn’t shout—it smiles for the camera.
